While we wait for extra energy ...

I have to admit that I had forgotten the work involved in having a tiny person come into your life.

So while I recover and catch up on some much needed sleep, I'll let this blog have a little break. Later I'll return with new energy and fresh ideas.

While we wait for that to happen, you can still follow me and my little family on our family blog.

I look forward to seeing you there!

The art of kids

I have two nephews that I love. They are adorable, clever, talented and absolutely wonderful! Yes, I am a proud aunt!

The day after the tiny one was born, they came to visit along with my sister. With them they brought two little monsters that they had made, one for the little one and one for the tiny one.

They had picked out the fabric, drawn the shape of the monsters and done most of the sowing themselves. Their mum had helped with some of the small details.

The monsters look funny and original.

Aren't they cool? I have to say the picture doesn't do them justice.

My nephews are 8 and 10, and I am totally amazed that they made this themselves. What a fun project for them.

And naturally the little one loves his monster! And his cousins!

Granola and Lego

On Wednesday the lovely midwives at the hospital will start the birth, if something hasn't happened before then. By then I will be 14 days past my due date.

The little one was born 15 days past his due date, so I am not completely surprised that no. 2 is still hiding in there. And who can blame him with the cold we've been having lately? I would also prefer to stay inside where it is warm and comfortable.

Lately I have been feeling really fit so today we decided to visit a nearby cafe that we really like. The place is comfortable, cozy and charming. You can't help but fall a little in love with the place.

I didn't bring my camera with me, and so I am borrowing pictures from the internet. I hope no one will mind.

What better way to pass time than having a chocolate milkshake and a sandwich in the great company of your two favorite men?

And finally something else I enjoyed today.

Wathcing the little man and his dad play with Lego, building big towers.

Waiting really is okay with me when you have such good company!

My dream house

I just found this blog called Prinsesse Elin - I would honestly love the blog just for the name. I am really that simple. Anything princessy wins me over!

In the blog there are loads of pictures of the bloggers house and it is really my dream house. Everything is soft and cosy, in light colours and lots of sweet little details. I find myself thinking that I could easily live there.

But then I remember today, having guests over, the little one eating a cookie with chocolate, chocolate fingers which were soon all over the entire place. Doesn't work with a white couch!

And what would our house be without a huge Lego tower in the corner of the living room? Or little toy cars scattered all over the floor?

I like the relaxedness of our house, that we don't mind spots on the couch (it can be washed so I do not panic), that toys are often found in the craziest of places.

But the same second the kids are out of here, my house is going to look like this:

And my guests are going to dine at a table like this:

Yes, they will not eat, they will dine! Cause that would be the kind of house I have.

But the bubble bursts as I remember that most of the chocolate fingers in the couch are actually from me, that next to all the toys are piles of my creative things which aren't that decorative and since I don't like in beautiful snowcovered Norway, my guests might dine, but never with such a view.

But I can still dream about the house. You know, it is a dream house after all.

Now I will sit down with a glass of chai-the and enjoy the rest of the evening with my feet up. Just one on the many benefits of being highly pregnant!

All pictures are taken from the above mentioned blog.

A little bag

I have a long list of amazing new projects for the new year. I am throughly excited!
And this year I am definitly starting with the christmas gifts earlier, so everyone - or more or less - will get homemade gifts for christmas!

But for now I am not doing a whole lot in the creative department. Today has actually been a busy day of surfing the internet, napping, eating and reading a book while my better half and the little one went to the library. Yeah, being pregnant is hard work!

Instead of focusing on my recent lack of creative accomplishments, let me show you something I did a while ago.

The little one got this t-shirt from his German grandfather. And I loved it. I would put it on him when ever I could. It was soft and looked so comfortable.

And the elefant. I loved the little elefant! So cute and with the little ears poking out. See, that is true love!

But as you can tell by the pictures, this inexperienced mom did not know that bananas makes the craziest stains known to mankind. So the amazing t-shirt got irremovable stains on it. I was not ready to throw it out. A love like that doesn't just die easily!

So I decided to reuse it in some way. I was not sure how, so for several months it just laid in a pile and waited for inspiration to come. And fortunately it did one day. The little one needed a little bag, and what better decorations for it than the elefant?

And so I cut out the elefant and made this decoration:

From the back of the t-shirt I cut out a piece of fabric to create a little pocket that I decorated with star-shaped buttons and ribbons. I put the little pocket on the other side of the bag.

Because I felt like it I made the bag reversible, so what you see here is the "inside" with a nice big, brown, pocket divided in two, perfect for storing things like pencils and other necessities for drawing.

I made these three sides, but then it was late and I wanted to go to sleep. So I put it back in my pile of things to do later, and ending up neglecting it for several months. Yeah, I really needed to make a list of unfinished projects and start finishing some of them. And as you know, I did!

I was very excited to finish it, but somehow I never got around to doing a decoration for the last side. But I think there is also plenty to look at, and it serves its purpose as a reminder of a very loved gift from the little ones grandfather.

I love reusing things that are worn out and no longer can be used. Not just to be political correct, but more to save the memories of an item and the joy it gave. I am not as good at is as I would like to, but maybe that should be one of my new years resolutions for 2010?

Have a great day! And for those of you who are wondering - no, no baby yet! 8 days past my due-date but who is counting?

... me ... that's who!

Oldies but goodies

I was looking through my videos from the past year and I found this one of the little one - drumming on his new drumset, wearing a superman outfit. What is not to love?

He started walking a few days later. I am sure it was the superman outfit that made all the difference!

40 weeks, 3 days and counting

I am so excited about the new year, a new beginning, a chance to start over - even though I am very content with what's been going on lately.

Life really is good!

And I wish I was blogging about all the new things I was making ... actually, I just wish that I was making new things. I am not. I am tired. I am pregnant, very very pregnant! I want to be in my bed.

This is me on Christmas Eve, 6 days before my duedate. Yes, I look like I swallowed a small house, but still ...

no baby yet! Nothing. Nada. Zip!

So while my better half is taking the little one to the swimming pool, I am sitting here at home with my laptop, going through crafty blogs, drooling over beautiful items on etsy and planning what to make next.

I am very much in love with this one, and I am thinking I could make something a little like that for our 3 year wedding anniversary in a month.

So even though I feel a complete lack of energy, life is pretty good. I got my laptop, great plans for the future, one cool baby coming soon, no need to cook since the fridge is full of tasty left-over food from new years eve and a better half and a little boy who are having the time of their life at the swimming pool. And I am sitting in my bed. Life is actually very good!

Happy New Year. I am sure 2010 is going to be absolutely awesome!
